Free Plumbing Inspection
Every time you book an appointment with Cure All Plumbing or our team is out on your property to quote a job, we will go through our diagnostic sheet to ensure that your plumbing system is looked after before our team leaves. We’ll look at the water pressure, your emergency water valve, and a few other things to make sure that your home’s water and plumbing system is in good condition.
Our Diagnostic Process
Are you curious about what our diagnostic sheet has on it? In this video, you can watch Cure All Plumbing go through the entire diagnostic sheet and explain each stop along the way.
Plumbing Inspection Process
Step 1: checking for emergency signs
If your plumbing system has a dire emergency to attend to, your plumbing inspectors will notice it first. Plumbing emergencies can be heard with water running through walls, seen with standing or leaking waters, or can be smelled, especially if it’s a sewage problem. If there isn’t an obvious problem that the plumbers notice while just walking in, they’ll start the rest of the inspection.
Step 2: checking the emergency valve shut off
Your home has an emergency water shut-off, which should be your go-to place in case of a pipe burst, leak, water heater problem, or other plumbing issues. Turning off this valve will stop all water from entering the house, which in turn will stop any fixtures or pipes from flooding. If you’re not sure where this valve is, our team will locate it and show you how to turn the water off and on. While we’re there, we will also assess the condition of the emergency valve. If it doesn’t look to be in good condition, we will help you find a solution to replace it.
Step 3: Checking The Home’s Water Pressure (PSI)
A home’s water pressure can fluctuate based on the health of the plumbing system. We’ll keep a record of your home’s PSI each time we visit, much like a collected vital sign at the doctor’s office. If we notice that the PSI has differed significantly from visit-to-visit, we can look deeper into what problem may be causing the fluctuation.
If your home’s water pressure is too high, it can cause all sorts of other problems as your fixtures will try to hold the water pressure back. This can cause leaks, pipe bursts, and break appliances. If we notice that it’s too high, we’ll help regulate the pressure and identify any possible damage that it may have caused.
Step 4: Water Quality Testing
After we’ve assessed the pressure of the water, we’ll look at the quality. We’ll perform a Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) test. A TDS test will determine what minerals are in the water. A high-level TDS test indicates hard minerals in the water, which are harsh on pipes. Here in Arizona, we’re known for our hard water both from municipal sources and well water. We will also test the chlorine levels in your water to see if they’re higher than normal. The water treatment centers tend to pump a lot of chlorine into the system to kill all sorts of bacteria, but it can have an adverse reaction and affect your home’s gaskets and o-rings.
If you have a water softener or another type of water treatment system, we’ll take a look at its condition. If it’s not quite doing its job, we can help you find new solutions or correct your treatment system to provide better water for your home and family.
